Terms of Service
Last updated: July 10, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Recommendlyat rcmndly.com (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Who provides the Service
The Service is operated by Adam Pivarník, a private individual based in the Slovak Republic ("we", "us"). The Service is a personal project and is not operated by a company.
2. The Service & pricing
Recommendly lets you create recommendation lists for movies, series, books, music, games, podcasts and places, share them via a link, and collect recommendations from others. The Service is currently provided free of charge. If paid features or advertising are ever introduced, we will announce it in advance; existing free functionality will not be retroactively charged without your explicit agreement.
3. Your account
- You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.
- You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for activity on your account.
- One person may not register multiple accounts for abusive purposes.
- Usernames are first-come, first-served; we may reclaim usernames that impersonate people or brands, infringe trademarks, or are inactive and abusive.
4. Your content
You keep all rights to the content you create (lists, notes, bio, photos). By posting it you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display and transmit it solely as needed to operate the Service. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account. You are responsible for the content you post and for making sure it doesn't violate anyone's rights.
Recommendations can be submitted by visitors without an account. The list owner controls whether received recommendations are private or shown on their public profile, and may delete any recommendation they receive.
5. Acceptable use
You must not use the Service to:
- post unlawful, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit or misleading content,
- spam, flood, scrape or otherwise abuse the Service or other users,
- impersonate another person or entity,
- upload malware or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its data,
- circumvent rate limits or security measures.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these rules.
Reporting content. If you find a public profile, list or recommendation that is unlawful or breaks these rules, report it using the "Report" link shown on that page or by emailing hello@rcmndly.com. We review reports and remove content that violates the law or these Terms.
6. Third-party content & services
Title metadata, posters, cover art and streaming availability come from third-party services (TMDB, Apple iTunes Search, Google Books, OpenLibrary, RAWG, Steam, Wikipedia, OpenStreetMap, JustWatch and others). We don't guarantee their accuracy or availability. All movie, series, book and music titles, artwork and trademarks belong to their respective owners.
This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
7. Availability, disclaimer & liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. As a free, non-commercial service we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation or preservation of data. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law (including liability for intentional misconduct or harm caused to consumers under mandatory Slovak/EU consumer law).
8. Termination
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time in Settings — this permanently removes your data. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with notice where reasonable. We may also discontinue the Service; in that case we will give reasonable advance notice so you can export what you need.
9. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms — for example when adding features or if the Service moves under a company. We'll post the new version here and update the date above; material changes will be announced in the app or by email at least 14 days in advance. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the new Terms.
10. Governing law & contact
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Slovak Republic. If you are a consumer in the EU, mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence remain unaffected. Disputes will be resolved by the competent courts of the Slovak Republic unless mandatory law provides otherwise. EU consumers may also use the European Online Dispute Resolution platform.
